Meet Tasha. Tasha was originally purchased by a family as a family pet when she was a baby. Tasha
lived with this family until they grew tired of her a few years later. This can often happen with
dogs, when families get them without considering how much time and devotion they need. After
the cuteness of puppy-hood wore off, her family decided they no longer wanted her around.
Instead of giving her to a friend or a co-worker who would have given her a good home or even
taking her to the pound, they did something not many people would think of. They gave her to a
medical facility for testing. For what kind of testing, we are not really sure. A few years passed
where Tasha lived only in a crate, subjected to different experiments.
Finally, she was rescued by a joint effort between Animal Rescue at MD Line and Pet Rescue of
Maryland. She was very skittish and very skinny. After several months of being fattened up by her
new grandfather, she was very sweet, very lazy and had a certain sadness in her eyes. Tasha spent
her days lounging around and going for walks. She seemed content, but was scared of stairs, had
never played with a toy and did not know how to play with other dogs.
Tasha's new mom heard about Karma Dogs and wanted to become involved. While no one was sure
how much Tasha could be certified to do, we thought it was best to find out. After being
evaluated and trained, Tasha is now the most obedient Karma Dog we currently have. But what is
even more exciting than an uninterrupted down-stay, is the fact that her self confidence has
grown by leaps and bounds. The skittish dog who would not go up stairs, investigate things or
even PLAY, now runs at top speeds, chasing balls and other dogs. She has learned the play
position, made new friends and even went rock climbing with a little help from Dirk. The
joy this brings Tasha and her mom is immeasurable. Tasha's mom wanted to help Karma Dogs and
Karma Dogs ended up helping Tasha to come out of her shell and enjoy life more than ever before.
The sadness in her eyes has been replaced with a quiet happiness. What comes around, goes
around. And that is what it is all about.
